Adeleke Signs Osun Park Management Bill Into Law.
Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has signed the State Park Management Bill into law, setting up a new framework for running commercial transport and motor parks across the state.
The Osun State House of Assembly passed the bill on Sept. 22, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The law is designed to regulate and digitally administer commercial transportation, traffic, motor parks, terminals, loading points and other related transport infrastructure in the state.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by the governor's spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke signed the bill at the Government House.
Adeleke praised the Assembly for its proactiveness and dynamism, describing the law as a major step towards modernising the state's transport system and improving the experience of both commuters and operators.
"I applaud the Speaker and members of the Assembly for always acting in the best interest of the state," the governor said.
"I have gone through the bill as passed by the Assembly and I am convinced that it is the best solution to the perennial crisis and challenges facing the Osun transportation park system."
He promised that work on the new law would begin without delay.
"Having signed this bill into law, I assure all stakeholders that implementation will commence in earnest.
"In line with the law, we will ensure that Osun people and other interests are accommodated for efficient service delivery across the state," he said.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, said the House complied with its standing rules in processing and finalising the passage of the bill.
Egbedun assured the governor and the people of the state that the new law provided answers to questions and concerns bordering on the management of transportation parks in Osun.
