The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has welcomed Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s appointment as the state coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council, reaffirming its support for the President’s re-election bid.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Awka, APGA National Publicity Secretary, Dr Ejimofor Opara, said the appointment reflected the party’s commitment to cooperation with the Federal Government.

The arrangement places Soludo, an APGA governor, in a coordinating role for Tinubu’s presidential campaign, while his party intends to compete separately for legislative seats.

“In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly,” Opara said.

Presidential Support, Separate Legislative Contests

Opara said APGA had adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate through a resolution of its National Executive Committee, and reiterated that position during the President’s working visit to Anambra on May 8.

“In line with this resolution, APGA did not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections,” he said.

He described Soludo’s slogan, “Progressives are Working Together,” as an expression of the party’s political alignment with the progressive movement at the national level.

The position sets out APGA’s intended electoral approach: mobilising support for Tinubu in the presidential contest while seeking votes for its own Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates.

Party Claims Development Benefits

Opara said cooperation between APGA and the Federal Government had brought benefits to Anambra through collaboration on infrastructure and economic development.

However, the statement did not identify specific projects, funding commitments or completed outcomes to substantiate that assessment.

He described Soludo’s appointment as recognition of his leadership and expressed confidence that the governor would use his organisational capacity and political acceptance to mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Those expectations remain the party’s assessment of what Soludo’s campaign role could achieve.

For voters, APGA’s declaration clarifies its presidential preference while preserving its separate identity in legislative contests. How the partnership translates into public benefits will require evidence beyond the parties’ statements of political cooperation.
