DC, NDC Absent from INEC’s Final Cross River Governorship ListA

By Atlantic Reports
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have no candidates on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list for the 2027 Cross River governorship election.
The published document lists eight governorship candidates and their running mates, with neither party represented. inecnigeria.org
The participating parties are the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). inecnigeria.org
The list does not state why the ADC and NDC are absent. Their omission alone does not establish whether they failed to submit nominations or whether other nomination issues arose.
Otu Listed Among Eight Candidates
Governor Bassey Otu is listed as the APC governorship candidate, alongside candidates from the seven other parties.
The APP’s Nya Basil Bassey, listed at 35, is the youngest governorship candidate. Otu, listed at 66, is the oldest. The document records AA governorship candidate Ali Patrick as 58, while his running mate, Ashipu Joseph Agaba, is listed as 66. inecnigeria.org
This differs from the supplied account, which described both Otu and Patrick as 66.
Wider Electoral Contest
Separately, 241 candidates were reported to have been cleared to contest 36 elective positions across Cross River in the 2027 general elections.
Those positions comprise the governorship, three Senate seats, eight House of Representatives seats and 24 State House of Assembly seats. gazettengr.com
For the governorship contest, the published list establishes an eight-party field. The reasons for the ADC and NDC’s absence remain unexplained in the document.
