Former ANPP Members in Zaria Pledge Support for APC

By Atlantic Reports
Former leaders and members of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State have pledged to support All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The commitment followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Zaria on Sunday to mobilise former ANPP members and address disagreements within the APC.
Speaking at the meeting, Sen. Aliyu-Lawal Silver acknowledged grievances over what he described as the neglect of former ANPP members but urged them to remain in the party.
He recalled the ANPP’s role in the merger that produced the APC, saying its former members remained part of the party’s political structure.
Silver appealed to aggrieved stakeholders to forgive past disagreements, reconcile their differences and work together to secure victory for APC candidates.
He also urged participants to consider development projects undertaken under APC administrations in Zaria. The supplied account did not identify specific projects or provide details of their impact.
Silver highlighted Zaria’s representation through Dr Tajudeen Abbas, whose fourth election to the House of Representatives preceded his emergence as Speaker.
Grassroots Mobilisation
Alhaji Aminu Sani, the Ajiyan Zazzau, praised Silver’s role in mentoring political leaders and urged residents to assess the APC’s performance ahead of the elections.
Earlier, former APC Zonal Chairman for the North, Alhaji Abubakar Rilwan, said participants had been invited because of their political influence and grassroots connections.
He claimed that each stakeholder could mobilise more than 50 votes from their respective households. That figure was a mobilisation estimate rather than a verified measure of electoral support.
Rilwan assured Silver of the participants’ continued loyalty and willingness to work towards their shared political objectives.
Other speakers also pledged to vote for APC candidates at all levels.
The meeting produced a public commitment to remain with the APC, although the account did not specify measures to address the grievances raised by former ANPP members.
