INEC Moves PVC Collection to Nsukka’s 20 Wards

By Atlantic Reports
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has moved Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection to all 20 electoral wards in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, to reduce travel costs for registered voters.
Mr Virginius Aniekwe, the Assistant Electoral Officer, disclosed this on Monday in Nsukka, saying the cards had been sorted and taken to ward collection points.
“The purpose is to enable registered voters to collect their PVCs and save them from traveling a long distance to INEC Office in Nsukka town,” he said.
Aniekwe said staff would attend the wards daily to make collection easier, particularly for people living in rural communities.
The arrangement addresses a practical barrier for voters who would otherwise need to pay for transport to the INEC office in Nsukka town.
Two residents, Mr Friday Ugwu and Mrs Jovita Ezema, welcomed the initiative, saying the journey to the office would have cost them about ₦2,000 each.
Chief Onyema Idoko, a former Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Council from Ibeagwa-Ani Ward, also commended the decision to deploy staff to the wards.
In Nru Ward, Mr Cyprian Ugwuaku, President-General of Nru Federated Nsukka Town Union, said the arrangement would reduce inconvenience and travel expenses.
“I applaud INEC for this beautiful arrangement that will save registered voters the inconveniences and transport fares to go to the INEC Office in Nsukka town,” he said.
The nationwide collection period for newly issued PVCs runs from 9 to 15 October ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The account did not provide a complete list of Nsukka’s collection venues or daily opening hours. Clear information on those details will help eligible voters collect their cards before the exercise closes.
