The Jigawa Government has increased its 2026 budget to N948.2 billion and approved funds for agricultural mechanisation, healthcare projects and medical supplies.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, disclosed this in a statement issued in Dutse on Tuesday.

Musa said the increase followed Gov. Umar Namadi's assent to the amended 2026 Appropriation Law, which carries a supplementary allocation of approximately N46.4 billion.

"The additional provision will fund priority projects and programmes with strict fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability," he said.

He added that the supplementary provision also includes approximately N17.11 billion for the 27 Local Government Councils.

> Agriculture: approx. N7.5bn for mechanisation equipment and an Agricultural Hub (RH-NAMP)

> Health: approx. N550.8m to revitalise Samamiya PHC, Birnin Kudu; N916.222m for drugs, 15,455 Mama Kits, 48 midwifery quarters and 35 laptops; 2,155 cartons of RUTF (cost not stated)

> Education: approx. N527m for three hostel blocks at GSTCs Birnin Kudu, Karkarna and Ringim

> Roads: approx. N982.52m compensation for the Kafin Hausa Township Road

On agriculture, the commissioner said the State Executive Council (SEC) approved approximately N7.5 billion to settle outstanding payments on agricultural mechanisation equipment and to set up an Agricultural Hub under the Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme (RH-NAMP).

According to him, the approval also covers 100 units of 81-horsepower four-wheel-drive tractors, 100-disc harrows, 100-disc ploughs, 100-disc ridders, 100 tractor trailers and 100 trackers.

Musa said the hub would offer mechanised farming services, agricultural inputs, farmer training, equipment maintenance, produce aggregation and post-harvest support.

"The hub will support the housing, servicing and maintenance of tractors and equipment," he said.

He said the facility would also handle the storage and distribution of agricultural inputs and irrigation equipment, and provide training for farmers, tractor operators, agricultural service providers and other stakeholders.

"The hub will also include an aggregation warehouse and collection and sorting area to support produce handling, storage, post-harvest management and market access," he added.

In the health sector, the council approved contracts worth approximately N550.8 million for the full-scale revitalisation and upgrade of Samamiya Primary Health Centre in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

It also approved the procurement of 2,155 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for immediate distribution to Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) centres across the 27 LGAs.

A further N916.222 million was approved for the supply of essential drugs, the procurement of 15,455 Mama Kits for expectant mothers, the furnishing of 48 primary healthcare midwifery quarters and the purchase of 35 laptop computers.

Musa said the computers would support the digitalisation of primary healthcare, health data reporting and record-keeping across administrative health centres.

For education, the council approved approximately N527 million for three student hostel blocks at the Government Science Technical Colleges in Birnin Kudu, Karkarna and Ringim.

The commissioner said the project would upgrade technical and vocational education infrastructure, improve student welfare and expand capacity for science, technology and technical training.

The council also approved approximately N982.52 million as compensation for property owners whose structures will be affected by the construction of the Kafin Hausa Township Road.

Musa said the road would improve transportation, cut travel time and boost local trade and living standards.

The commissioner quoted the governor as commending the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Haruna Dangyatin, and members for their patriotism, diligent scrutiny and swift legislative action on the supplementary budget.

"The seamless collaboration between the executive and legislative arms reflects a shared commitment to delivering the present administration's 12-Point Agenda," Namadi said.
