Lagos Police Detain Four Over Alleged Cult Activities

By Atlantic Reports
The Lagos State Police Command says it has detained four people suspected of involvement in cult-related activities in Lekki, Ajah and Elemoro.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspects were apprehended between October 2 and October 9 following intelligence received by police operatives.
She said they were being investigated for alleged conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society.
According to Adebisi, officers recovered a locally made cut-to-size gun during a search of one suspect’s residence.
The recovery and allegations remain part of the police account. The statement did not identify specific incidents linked to the suspects or indicate that they had been charged in court.
Adebisi said investigators were seeking other people allegedly connected to the offences and pursuing enquiries that could lead to the recovery of additional firearms.
“The suspects have made useful statements,” she said, without providing details of those statements.
The spokesperson said Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani, had reiterated the command’s commitment to disrupting cult groups and other criminal networks.
She also urged residents to provide credible and timely information about security concerns in their communities.
The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations against the four suspects have not been established in court.
