NDC Urges Calm as INEC Omits Its Cross River Guber Candidate

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked its supporters in Cross River to stay calm after its governorship candidate was left off the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party blamed the omission on what it described as a bureaucratic error and said it was confident the matter would be resolved soon.
The NDC did not name its governorship candidate.
INEC released the final list on Saturday. Only eight political parties have candidates listed for the Feb. 6, 2027 governorship election in Cross River.
They are the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) was also missing from the list.
The NDC chairman in Cross River, Mr Goddie Akpama, said on Sunday that the party had contacted the relevant authorities, including its national secretariat, and had been assured that the issue was being addressed.
"We have since contacted the relevant authorities, including our national secretariat, over the issue and have been told that it is being sorted out.
"I can assure you that all this will be resolved this week; we will have our candidate back on the list," he said.
He urged supporters to keep campaigning for all NDC candidates, including the governorship candidate, and to focus on spreading the party's message across the state.
INEC's response to the party's claim was not included in the report.
