First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has urged voters to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, arguing that a second term would consolidate economic reforms and translate them into greater prosperity.

She spoke on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-Central Mega Rally organised to mobilise support for Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

The First Lady called on party members to take their campaign into communities, explain the administration’s programmes and mobilise voters for APC candidates.

“President Tinubu is a man who believes in the unity, security and prosperity of our nation,” she said.

Referencing the president’s Independence Day message, titled “From Reforms to Prosperity”, she expressed confidence that his policies were stabilising the economy and encouraging investment.

She also cited road construction and other infrastructure projects as reasons to support continuity.

“I have been in the Senate for 12 years. This is the best time I will see government fixing roads and building a lot of infrastructure,” she said.

Her assessments of economic stability, investment and infrastructure were campaign claims. The remarks did not include economic indicators, investment figures or project comparisons to substantiate them.

Food Support and Education

The First Lady highlighted a food bank programme which she said supported children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers with nutritious food.

She said the programme also sought to help malnourished children obtain treatment and food needed for healthy growth.

She cited education funding initiatives as another area in which students were benefiting, although the address did not specify beneficiary numbers or funding amounts.

Tinubu described the president as willing to make difficult decisions and said his administration would continue working towards a stronger economy and safer communities if returned to office.

Call for Campaigns Without Hate Speech

The First Lady said the APC women’s wing had aligned its campaign efforts around a common message ahead of the elections.

She urged supporters to focus on policies and programmes, avoiding hate speech and conduct that could undermine national unity.

“Therefore, vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of APC from top to bottom,” she said.

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule hosted the rally, which drew governors and other political leaders from the North-Central region.

The First Lady’s appeal placed continuity at the centre of the APC’s campaign. Whether the reforms deliver the prosperity she promised will depend on measurable improvements in livelihoods, public services and security.
