Tinubu to Launch 2027 Re-Election Campaign in Kaduna October 24, Says Yari

By Atlantic Reports
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to formally launch his campaign for a second term in office on October 24, 2026, in Kaduna State, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
Yari disclosed the planned campaign schedule on Friday after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he presented a proposed timetable for the ruling party's nationwide political activities.
According to the former Zamfara State governor, Tinubu approved the proposed arrangements, paving the way for the party to begin preparations for campaign engagements across the country.
The campaign is expected to proceed to Rivers State and Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, after the Kaduna event, although specific dates for those visits have not been announced.
Yari also disclosed that the President would formally inaugurate the APC Presidential Campaign Council on October 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
APC Presidential Campaign Council to Be Inaugurated October 14
Speaking with State House correspondents, Yari explained that the meeting with Tinubu focused on preparations for the campaign, including proposed state visits and the operational arrangements of the campaign council.
“I just presented a proposed campaign timetable for state visits to the President, and he has approved it,” he said.
He added that the council, which he said had been appointed several months earlier, would begin its formal activities following the inauguration.
“We agreed on how it is going to be done. The inaugural meeting of the PCC will hold on Oct. 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“And, by God’s grace, on Oct. 24, we are going to have our flag-off in Kaduna State.”
Yari said the complete timetable would be released after the council's inauguration, allowing party officials, supporters and other stakeholders to prepare for the planned engagements.
The announcement places Kaduna at the centre of the APC's proposed opening campaign activities, with subsequent events planned for the South-South and North-East geopolitical zones.
Rivers and Borno Listed Among Next Campaign Destinations
Following the planned Kaduna rally, the APC intends to extend its campaign activities to Rivers State and Borno State.
Port Harcourt and Maiduguri are among the locations identified for subsequent engagements.
The proposed visits are expected to provide opportunities for the ruling party to present its policy positions and engage supporters in different regions.
However, the party has not disclosed the venues, dates or detailed programmes for the subsequent rallies.
For Rivers State, the planned visit will attract attention to the APC's political relationships and organisational arrangements in the South-South, although the announcement does not establish what alliances or campaign structures will be involved.
Yari Expresses Confidence in APC's Electoral Strength
Yari also expressed confidence in the ruling party's prospects in the 2027 presidential election, citing Tinubu's political support and the number of states controlled by the APC.
He argued that the party's presence across northern and southern Nigeria would provide an advantage during the presidential contest.
“This is a calculation; it is not rocket science,” he said.
The former governor claimed that the APC controlled more than 10 states in the South and believed it had a similar level of control in the North.
These figures represent Yari's assessment of the party's political strength and do not, by themselves, establish the voting preferences of Nigerians.
Electoral outcomes will depend on voter participation, the performance of competing candidates, political developments and the conduct of the electoral process.
Tinubu's Economic Record to Feature Prominently
Yari indicated that the APC would place the Tinubu administration's performance at the centre of its campaign message.
He maintained that the President had made progress in addressing challenges inherited upon assuming office in May 2023.
“The economy is improving. So, I think we have done enough to tell our opponents what we have achieved.
“We are not promising; we are doing it, and we are going to continue,” he said.
His assessment reflects the ruling party's position on the administration's economic performance.
For Nigerians, however, the debate over economic progress extends beyond official claims to the practical effects of government policies on food prices, transportation, employment, household income and business operating costs.
The APC's campaign will therefore provide an opportunity to present evidence of its achievements, while opposition parties will be expected to outline alternative approaches to the country's economic and governance challenges.
2027 Election: Campaign Promises Face Public Scrutiny
The announcement marks an important stage in the APC's preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the party moving towards a structured programme of nationwide campaign activities.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published its timetable for the 2027 general elections, establishing the framework within which political parties must conduct their activities.
As the campaign gathers momentum, attention will turn to the administration's record on economic management, national security, infrastructure, employment and public service delivery.
Questions about the financing of campaign activities, compliance with electoral regulations and the distinction between official government functions and partisan political engagements will also remain relevant.
For voters, the coming campaign offers an opportunity to examine competing policy proposals, assess past commitments against actual delivery and demand clear explanations of how candidates intend to address the country's challenges.
The APC has outlined its initial campaign arrangements, but the full timetable and detailed policy messages are still expected to be made public.
With Kaduna scheduled to host the opening rally on October 24, the ruling party is preparing to present its case for another presidential term. Ultimately, that case will be tested through public scrutiny and the electoral process.
