Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has congratulated Sagir Suleiman-Gezawa and 67 other recipients on their elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
In a statement issued on Monday in Kano, the governor’s Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature, said Yusuf attended the conferment ceremony at the Supreme Court in Abuja, marking the beginning of the 2026/2027 Legal Year.
The 68 recipients comprised 67 legal practitioners and one academic, Prof. Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri.
Yusuf described Suleiman-Gezawa as a competent legal practitioner with integrity, saying his elevation had brought honour to Kano State.
He urged the new senior advocate to remain a worthy ambassador of the state by maintaining high standards of professional ethics and commitment to justice.
The governor said the achievement should encourage young lawyers to embrace hard work, discipline and respect for the rule of law.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting institutions and initiatives that promote justice, professional excellence and human capital development in Kano.
For the newly elevated advocates, Yusuf’s message placed emphasis on the responsibilities accompanying professional recognition, particularly the obligation to uphold integrity and serve the cause of justice.
