Kwara Hands Over 25 Hilux Vehicles to Police

By Atlantic Reports
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has handed over 25 new Hilux vehicles to the state Police Command to strengthen patrols and responses to security threats.
The governor presented the vehicles to Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo in Ilorin on Monday, saying the donation would improve operational mobility and help officers protect lives and property.
AbdulRazaq said the vehicles were intended to increase police visibility and support prompt responses to distress calls and emerging threats.
The handover provides additional equipment for the command. Its effect on public safety will depend on deployment, maintenance and the personnel available to operate the vehicles.
Police pledge effective deployment
Ojo thanked the governor for the donation and his continued support for the command.
He said the assistance aligned with the operational priorities of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, including proactive, intelligence-led policing and improved operational effectiveness.
The commissioner pledged to deploy the vehicles judiciously to strengthen policing and service delivery across Kwara.
However, the account of the handover did not specify the communities or police formations that would receive them, their procurement cost or arrangements for fuel and maintenance.
For residents, the practical measures of improvement will include more reliable patrol coverage and quicker responses when assistance is needed.
Ojo reaffirmed the command’s commitment to crime prevention and urged residents to provide timely, credible information to support the detection of threats.
He said sustained cooperation between the government, police and the public remained important to lasting peace and safety.
