Makinde Pledges Inclusive Governance, Security Reforms at Yola Town Hall

By Atlantic Reports
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, identified as the Allied People’s Movement (APM) presidential candidate, has pledged inclusive governance and reforms to address insecurity and poverty if elected in 2027.
Speaking on Saturday at the party’s North-East town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, Makinde said his proposed administration would pursue reforms across sectors to improve Nigerians’ living conditions.
He promised that the distribution of power and responsibilities would not favour any particular part of the country.
Manifesto to Reflect Citizens’ Priorities
Makinde said the delay in releasing his manifesto was deliberate, explaining that he wanted to hear from Nigerians before finalising his policy proposals.
He said their concerns would inform his “reset agenda”, which he presented as a response to insecurity, poverty and other national challenges.
“I promise you, the North-East and the people of Nigeria, that we will be sincere in finding solutions to the challenges we are facing in the country,” he said.
“We will ensure we tell you exactly what is happening and listen to you, as solutions can come from anywhere.”
His remarks outlined broad commitments to consultation and transparency. However, the account of the meeting did not provide implementation timelines, funding arrangements or detailed measures for achieving the proposed reforms.
Supporters Urged to Mobilise
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed urged supporters to vote for the APM in the 2027 general elections.
Mohammed described the party’s candidates as young, credible and capable of delivering on their commitments. These were his assessments of the party and its candidates.
The APM governorship candidate in Adamawa, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Haske, thanked Makinde for choosing the state to host the regional meeting.
Haske expressed confidence in the party’s electoral prospects in the North-East and pledged to strengthen its organisation across political wards and local communities.
He urged supporters to remain committed and mobilise ahead of the elections.
Party stakeholders from Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa and Yobe attended the meeting.
Makinde’s proposed manifesto would provide the next opportunity to assess how his promises of regional inclusion, improved security and poverty reduction translate into specific policies and measurable commitments.
