Assistant Inspector-General of Police Ahmed Musa has assumed duty as the 25th head of Zone 10, pledging to strengthen security and improve public confidence in policing across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

In his maiden address to personnel, Musa urged officers to remain disciplined, professional and committed to their responsibilities.

His priorities were outlined in a statement issued on Monday in Sokoto by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdallah Ambursa.

Musa said the zone would intensify efforts against violent crime through closer collaboration with the Armed Forces, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders.

He also appealed to residents to provide credible, actionable information to support crime prevention and investigations.

“My doors will continue to remain open to enable members of the public to connect with the zone on all police matters,” he said.

The statement did not outline specific operational measures, public contact channels or targets for assessing progress under the new leadership.

Musa succeeds AIG Augustine Grimah, who retired from the service.

Before his appointment, Musa was the AIG in charge of community policing at Force Headquarters in Abuja. He had also served as Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State.

An indigene of Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Maiduguri.

He has more than three decades of police experience, with assignments spanning crime management, investigation, intelligence, operations and administration.

His pledge to strengthen public trust places officers’ conduct alongside crime prevention as a priority for the zone. Delivering on it will require professional treatment of residents, accessible reporting channels and effective responses to security complaints.
