Northern Christians Urged to Unite Behind Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

By Atlantic Reports
Bishop John Praise Daniel, General Overseer of Dominion Chapel International, has urged Christians across northern Nigeria to unite behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office, stressing the importance of collective action in achieving the group’s political objectives.
Daniel made the call in Abuja during the commissioning of the national secretariat of Arewa Christians for Tinubu (ACT-2027), a support group seeking to mobilise Christian voters across the northern states.
He urged members to prioritise their shared political interests and objectives over denominational differences, ethnic affiliations and party divisions.
“When we are united, there is no impossibility that will stand against us,” he said.
Group Plans Grassroots Mobilisation
Daniel called on ACT-2027 members to extend their mobilisation activities to villages, local government areas and wards across northern Nigeria to promote the organisation’s agenda.
He warned against allowing ethnic loyalties and political disagreements to weaken the movement, urging members from different backgrounds to cooperate in pursuit of their common objectives.
“We cannot be divided on politics and tribes. When we see something that is good, we hold to it and stand together,” he said.
The cleric expressed confidence in the group’s ability to build support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election, describing unity as essential to translating its political ambitions into electoral gains.
Daniel Explains Support for Tinubu
Explaining his support for the president’s re-election, Daniel recalled meeting Tinubu in 2022, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) faced criticism over its Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
He said he had supported giving Tinubu an opportunity to lead, partly because he believed the president could address insecurity and improve the balance of political appointments.
Daniel added that the appointment of Christians to senior government positions had reinforced his support for the administration.
He cited Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and General Christopher Musa, Minister of Defence, as examples of Christian representation in the government.
The cleric urged northern Christians to consider their collective interests while pursuing their political goals, irrespective of differences in party affiliation.
He said supporting Tinubu’s re-election formed the group’s immediate political strategy, expressing hope that a second term would provide further opportunities for political engagement and negotiations on issues affecting northern Christians.
ACT-2027 Targets Five Million Votes
The inauguration of the national secretariat is part of the group’s efforts to establish stronger organisational structures and coordinate its mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group has announced a target of five million votes for Tinubu in the presidential election.
Its convener and national coordinator, Ambassador Ayuba Ngbako, said ACT-2027 planned to mobilise supporters across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory through state, local government and ward structures.
The group also announced plans to unveil a book in December titled Meet President Tinubu and His 52 Managers of the Economy as part of its advocacy activities.
Mobilisation Ahead of 2027
ACT-2027’s activities reflect efforts by political support groups to organise voters and build networks ahead of the next presidential election.
Whether the group can translate its stated target into electoral support will depend on its reach, organisational capacity and response among voters across the region.
Daniel’s appeal places unity at the centre of the organisation’s strategy, while its planned grassroots activities are intended to expand its presence across northern communities.
