Ondo CP Disburses N25.5m Insurance Benefits to 37 Police Families

The Ondo State Police Command says it has presented a cheque of N25.577 million to 37 police families in the state as beneficiaries of the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme.

This is according to a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Akure by the command's spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.

The statement said the presentation was made by the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, in line with the welfare-focused vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and was aimed at improving support for police personnel and their families.

According to the statement, the cheque presentation took place at the command's headquarters on Sept. 15, following the release of insurance claims from the force's national headquarters for onward distribution to beneficiaries.

The cheques, totalling N25,577,512.60, cover claims under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident schemes and are meant to provide financial relief, particularly to families of officers who lost their lives in the course of duty.

Ohagwu commended the IGP for facilitating the release of the funds, describing the gesture as evidence of the force's commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families. He noted that the intervention comes at a critical time, as many families continue to grapple with economic hardship, and expressed hope that the funds would help ease the difficulties many Nigerians currently face.

He urged the beneficiaries to put the funds to judicious and responsible use, channelling them toward pressing family needs, education, investment and other productive ventures that could provide long-term support.

The statement added that beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the CP and the IGP for ensuring the release and presentation of the insurance benefits, describing the gesture as timely and impactful given prevailing economic conditions. They prayed for the continued success of the Nigeria Police Force's leadership.
