Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has paid tribute to former Aso Rock Villa Chaplain, Rev. Dr William Uzochukwu Okoye, describing him as a clergyman whose life reflected faith, integrity and service to others.
Soludo spoke during a condolence visit to the Okoye family in Amatutu, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, on Saturday, a day after the cleric was buried at his country home.
The governor said Okoye’s contributions to Christian ministry and his service as chaplain to two Nigerian presidents would remain an inspiration to younger generations.
“Rev. Dr William Okoye lived a life of faith, sacrifice and service. His commitment to God and humanity remains a worthy example for younger generations to emulate,” Soludo said.
He described the late cleric as a man of strong Christian convictions who devoted his life to preaching the gospel, nurturing believers and promoting moral values.
According to Soludo, Okoye’s death was a significant loss to his family, the Christian community, Anambra State and the country.
The governor encouraged the bereaved family to draw comfort from the relationships Okoye built and the lives he influenced through his ministry.
He expressed gratitude for the cleric’s years of service and prayed for strength for the family and others mourning his death.
Okoye’s burial on Friday concluded a week of funeral activities held in Abuja and Anambra, attended by relatives, friends, associates and members of the Christian community.
Soludo’s visit added to the tributes honouring the late chaplain’s religious service and the legacy he leaves within his family and wider community.
