The All-Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have filed separate petitions before the Osun Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, challenging the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The petitions were pasted on the notice board at the tribunal's secretariat in Osogbo on Monday, marking the formal commencement of legal proceedings arising from the August 15 governorship election, which Adeleke won.

Secretary to the tribunal, Mr Pete Belemore, confirmed that both opposition parties had filed petitions disputing the outcome of the election. He said the requisite notices would be displayed on the tribunal's notice board before the close of business on Monday, a development that paves the way for the respondents to be formally served and for subsequent proceedings to begin.

According to Belemore, the tribunal is expected to hear the petitions in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and other relevant laws governing election disputes.

Adeleke, who ran on the platform of the Accord party, was declared winner of the August 15 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after defeating his closest challenger.Mr Bola Oyebamiji, of APC
