Ayra Starr opened her set with “Heaven Baby”, followed by “Santa”, “Rush” and “Dangerous”. She closed with a medley of “Hot Body” and “Ms. Paper”, bringing songs from her growing catalogue to the sporting stage.
In a post on her official X account, she described herself as the “first African artist to headline an NFL International Games halftime show”.
The milestone concerns the NFL’s international fixtures, which are regular-season American football games played outside the United States.
Ayra Starr rose to prominence in 2021, the year she released her debut album, 19 & Dangerous. Songs including “Bloody Samaritan”, “Rush” and “Commas” have since helped establish her international profile.
Her London appearance also forms part of a wider presence for Nigerian music in the NFL’s overseas entertainment programme. The league has announced Burna Boy as the halftime headliner for its Paris game on 25 October. apnews.com
For Ayra Starr, the performance adds a major sporting platform to her international career and gives Afrobeats another opportunity to reach audiences beyond its established concert and festival circuit.
