The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a two-bedroom apartment and four single-bedroom apartments at Biseni Secondary School in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, as part of its ongoing community intervention efforts.

Speaking at the inauguration on Monday, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the project forms part of NAF's non-kinetic operations aimed at fostering goodwill within host communities. He was represented at the event by the Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command, Air Vice Marshal Michael Nnanye Onyebashi.

According to Aneke, the initiative was specifically designed to build trust and win the hearts and minds of communities where NAF operates. "Civil-military relations thrive on constant, robust and mutually beneficial interaction between the military and civil society," he said.

He reaffirmed NAF's commitment to special intervention projects that strengthen its relationship with host communities while supporting ongoing security operations, and assured that the Air Force, alongside other security agencies, would continue working together to protect lives, property and Nigeria's territorial integrity.

Governor Duoye Diri commended the NAF for the gesture, describing it as a strong example of effective partnership in grassroots development. Represented by the Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, the governor said the project aligns with his administration's broader efforts to extend development and modern infrastructure to communities across the state. He added that the intervention would have a positive impact on students while reflecting NAF's commitment to the socio-economic wellbeing of Bayelsa residents.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Bubaraye Dakolo, praised the NAF for the initiative. Dakolo, who is also the Ibenanawei of Epetiama Kingdom, called for more infrastructure and development projects to be extended across the wider Niger Delta region.

The Principal of Biseni Secondary School, Mr Larry George, expressed gratitude to the NAF, Ebiowe, and the Bayelsa State Government for the intervention. He described the project as marking a new chapter for the school, one he believes will inspire students to strive for greater academic and personal achievements.
