The Police Command in Cross River State says it has recovered a tricycle suspected to have been stolen in Akwa Ibom State, while apprehending a 22-year-old suspect in the process.

The command's spokesperson, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, disclosed this in a statement issued in Calabar on Friday.

According to Eitokpah, the tricycle, bearing registration number AZA 504 QJ, was recovered at Mayne Avenue, Calabar South, on September 15, following credible information. He said the suspect was apprehended while allegedly negotiating the sale of the tricycle.

The police spokesperson said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had stolen the tricycle from Akwa Ibom State before driving it to Calabar. "The tricycle has been recovered and secured as an exhibit, efforts are ongoing to trace and establish its rightful ownership," he said.

Separate Case: Teen Detained Over Generator Theft

In a separate incident, the Cross River Police Command said it had detained an 18-year-old suspect over the theft of a power generator at Nyawawo Street, Calabar South. Eitokpah confirmed that the generator had been recovered and secured as an exhibit, adding that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the theft and confirm its rightful owner.

The police image maker noted that the Commissioner of Police, Ajo Ordue, maintains a zero-tolerance stance toward crime and lawlessness. "The commissioner of police is urging the public to always support the police with credible intelligence for more effective service delivery," he said.
