Davido Opens Up on Dangote's Decades-Long Bond With His Family

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has shed light on the decades-long bond between his family and billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, describing a relationship that has spanned generations.

The singer made the revelation while discussing his personal ties to Dangote during a recent interview in Lagos, disclosing that the business mogul has remained close to his family for decades and had offered him financial guidance since childhood.

"Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me," Davido said, illustrating just how far back the relationship goes.

According to the singer, Dangote has been remarkably consistent in advising him to save and manage his finances wisely each time they meet. "Anytime I see him, he still tells me, 'David, save your money.' He's been saying that since I was a baby," he said, adding that the advice has remained relevant to him as he continues to navigate his career in the entertainment industry.

The "Fall" hitmaker also reflected on the nature of extreme wealth, describing billionaires as fundamentally ordinary people despite their fortunes, and noting that their day-to-day lifestyles often differ significantly from public perception.

Davido further disclosed that Dangote has long been a close associate of his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke, explaining that the relationship between the two families has endured for decades — from his own childhood well into his adult life and career.
