Foundation Gives School Supplies to Children of Parents With Disabilities

By Atlantic Reports
Help Women Foundation has distributed school supplies to more than 50 children of parents with disabilities in Ilorin, Kwara State, to support their education and reduce pressure on family budgets.
The foundation’s founder, Ayobola Ipinlaiye, led the distribution on Monday, with support from the Dele Shittu Foundation and Dr Olayinka Ilufoye, Chief Executive Officer of ISHI Homes Limited.
Items distributed included 15 school bags, 10 pairs of sandals and socks, 25 exercise books and five water bottles. The account did not specify how the supplies were allocated among the children.
Speaking at the event, Ipinlaiye said every child deserved access to quality education, regardless of background. She urged individuals and organisations to support families facing difficulties meeting school expenses.
The Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Kwara chapter, Mr Adedayo Olayinka, welcomed the intervention, describing it as a gesture of inclusion.
Represented by the association’s General Secretary, Mr Lukman Abefe, Olayinka said some members’ children struggled to attend school because they lacked basic learning materials.
“This act of kindness shows that we are not forgotten. Many of our children struggle to go to school due to lack of basic learning materials,” he said.
He said the supplies would encourage the children to remain in school and called for further support from individuals and organisations.
Mr Balogun Olusola, General Secretary of JONAPWD in Ilorin East Local Government Area, also commended the foundation, saying small acts of support could make a lasting difference.
A parent and JONAPWD member, Mr Siddiq Mogaji, described the assistance as timely.
The outreach addressed some immediate school needs. The concerns raised by parents and association representatives also point to the importance of sustained support so that a shortage of basic materials does not interrupt children’s education.
