Kaduna PDP Candidate Bawa Pledges Fair Resource Allocation Across Three Zones

By Atlantic Reports
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Usman Bawa, has pledged equitable distribution of resources across the state’s three senatorial zones, saying citizens’ needs would guide budget preparation and implementation if elected.
Bawa, popularly known as ABG, outlined the proposal at a town hall meeting with PDP stakeholders in Zone One, held in Zaria, according to a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Yusuf Idris.
Appearing alongside his running mate, Amos Gandu, Bawa said his proposed administration would adopt a bottom-up approach, allowing communities to identify their development priorities.
Community Needs to Shape Spending
Bawa said the approach would give residents a role in determining what government should prioritise, rather than having projects and programmes decided for them.
He sought public support and promised fairness, accountability and respect for the rule of law.
The statement did not explain how community proposals would enter the budget process, how competing needs would be assessed or what criteria would guide equitable allocation across the three zones.
Those details would help voters assess how the pledge could translate into spending decisions and measurable improvements in public services.
Party Leaders Call for Manifesto Campaign
The PDP Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Danbaba SayaSaya, urged the party’s candidates to take their manifestos to the electorate and expressed optimism about its electoral prospects.
State PDP Chairman Edward Marsha also appealed for residents’ support, arguing that their experience of governance under different parties should inform their choices.
His assessment of the parties’ performance was a political position; the statement provided no comparative service-delivery data.
According to Idris, religious leaders, student groups, community development associations, women and youth groups at the meeting expressed support for Bawa and satisfaction with his manifesto.
The town hall presented Bawa’s broad commitments to participatory governance. A clearer account of consultation procedures, allocation criteria and public oversight would allow residents to evaluate how those promises would work in practice.
