The Makoda Local Government Council in Kano State has disbursed ₦50,000 in start-up capital to each of 100 women, aimed at supporting their small businesses and improving their livelihoods.

The council's Information Officer, Zainab Idris, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Makoda.

According to the statement, the Council Chairman, Auwal Jibga, personally distributed the funds at the council secretariat in Koguna as part of ongoing efforts to empower women and promote self-reliance within the local government area.

Jibga urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously to expand their businesses and generate additional income for themselves and their families. He commended members of the Community Re-orientation Council (CRC), Lafiya Jari leaders, and ward party leaders for their support and cooperation in ensuring the success of the empowerment programme.

The chairman also encouraged the beneficiaries to continue supporting the All-Progressives Congress (APC) from the grassroots to the state level, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to sustaining programmes designed to support women and other members of the community.

Jibga further commended Governor Abba Yusuf for his commitment to citizens' welfare, particularly through efforts to improve infrastructure and living conditions across Kano State. He described the governor as a leader dedicated to fulfilling his promises through programmes benefiting both urban and rural communities.

According to the statement, each of the 100 beneficiaries received ₦50,000, bringing the total value of the start-up capital disbursed to ₦5 million.
