Entertainment and gaming company Konami Group Corporation has announced a new eFootball server in Lagos, expanding its network for players of the football simulation game in Nigeria.

The company disclosed the development through its official eFootball account on X, alongside new server locations in Athens, Greece, and Istanbul, Türkiye.

Lagos is also listed among the operational server locations on Konami’s official online match information page. eFootball™ Official Site

The announcement brings attention to connection quality, a key part of the experience for players competing online in eFootball, formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer (PES).

What It Means for Players

According to Konami’s technical guidance, players generally stand to benefit from better connections when they are closer to a game server. However, distance alone does not determine performance. Network infrastructure and the locations of opponents also influence which server the game selects. eFootball™ Official Site

The Lagos location could therefore improve the experience for some Nigerian players, although its introduction does not guarantee the same results for every user.

The effect also depends on the game mode. Konami explains that competitions such as eFootball League use server-based connections, while Quick Match and some one-on-one Friend Matches connect players directly to each other. eFootball™ Official Site

Konami Seeks Player Feedback

Konami encouraged players in the affected regions to consult its online match guidance to understand how server locations influence matchmaking and gameplay.

The company said it would continue expanding server locations to support a more comfortable online playing experience and invited users to share feedback following the additions.

The announcement did not provide performance measurements for the Lagos server. Players’ experiences and connection data will help establish how much the new location improves online matches.
