Live music and dance filled the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos on Tuesday night as Tobi Majek and the Da Seed Band, alongside Scott Martins and the Electrified Band, performed at Felabration.

The show continued into the early hours of Wednesday as part of the annual festival honouring Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

This year’s edition, themed “Who Are You?”, began on October 12 and is scheduled to conclude on October 18.

Majek and the Da Seed Band performed songs paying tribute to Fela, with members of the audience singing along.

Scott Martins and the Electrified Band also entertained the crowd, accompanied by dancers whose routines added movement to the live set.

Emerging artistes shared the stage, showcasing their music alongside the established bands. Their appearances provided space for new performers within a festival rooted in Fela’s legacy.

Comedian Olufemi Fagade, popularly known as Omo Oba, hosted the event, bringing humour between performances.

Some attendees expressed delight at the show and praised its organisation and security. Their comments reflected their experience of the evening, rather than a formal assessment of the festival’s safety arrangements.

Felabration brings music enthusiasts together around Fela’s work and influence. Tuesday’s programme carried that celebration through live bands, dance and opportunities for a new generation of Nigerian artistes.
