The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has donated ₦6 million and food supplies to two bereaved families in Zamfara State, according to a statement from his political committee.

The Publicity Secretary of the Matawalle Political Standing Committee (MPSC), Malam Yusuf Idris, announced the donations in a statement issued in Gusau on Sunday.

He said the family of the late Sanusi Lilo, a former Director-General of the Zamfara Investment Company, received ₦3 million and food items.

Another ₦3 million and food supplies were presented to Alhaji Aminu Matawallen-Yandoto, whose wife, Hajiya Zainab, recently died.

Food Assistance for the Families

According to Idris, the supplies distributed between the two families included 40 bags of rice, maize and millet, alongside macaroni, spaghetti and groundnut oil.

The statement also referred to 20 cartons of supplies but did not clearly specify the quantity of each packaged item or how the food was divided between the households.

The Chairman of the MPSC, Ibrahim Isa-Mayana, presented the donations on the minister’s behalf.

Idris said Matawalle prayed for the deceased and asked Allah to grant their families strength to bear the losses. He added that representatives of the families expressed appreciation for the assistance.

Lilo reportedly died in a road crash along the Zaria–Kaduna Highway, while Hajiya Zainab died in Gusau following a brief illness.

Vehicles Donated for APC Campaigns

In a separate donation, Matawalle provided a car and 10 motorcycles to All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups led by Alhaji Salisu Dawa.

Idris said the vehicles were intended to support the party’s campaign activities in Zamfara.

The statement did not disclose the value of the vehicles or the funding source for either the campaign donations or the assistance to the bereaved families.
