Nigeria’s Ambassador to Denmark, Lola Akande, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, identifying climate action, peace and security, and sustainable development as priorities for cooperation.

In a statement issued on Sunday following the presentation of her Letters of Credence to King Frederik X, Akande said Nigeria was ready to work with the Danish government, private sector and other stakeholders to broaden the relationship.

The ceremony took place at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, formally establishing her accreditation as Nigeria’s ambassador to Denmark.

Akande emphasised Nigeria’s strategic interest in the partnership and called for expanded cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.

She also commended King Frederik X for his commitment to global sustainability and climate stewardship.

The ambassador conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s greetings and best wishes to the King, the Danish Royal Family, and the government and people of Denmark.

Akande also serves as Nigeria’s ambassador to Sweden, Norway and Finland.

While the statement outlined diplomatic priorities, it did not announce new agreements, funding commitments or a timetable for specific joint initiatives.
