Wike Orders Clearance of Illegal Beer Parlours in Asokoro

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, on Friday ordered security agencies and the FCT Department of Development Control to immediately dismantle unauthorised beer parlours operating along the Asokoro axis.
Wike issued the directive after a high-level security meeting in Abuja with the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to the minister, the order followed security intelligence on the activities of the relaxation points. He did not give details of the threats or name the specific locations involved.
Wike said the FCT Administration would act early to stop possible criminal activity before it could grow.
"We have been told of some security threats originating from somewhere leading towards Asokoro, where some individuals are attempting to establish unauthorised beer parlour businesses.
"We will not allow that. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it," he said.
To carry out the order, the minister instructed the Department of Development Control to work with security agencies on an immediate clearance of the affected areas.
"We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems. We will not allow that at all," he said.
Wike added that he made the decision public so that residents would know the administration's firm position on keeping law and order across the nation's capital.
