New Imo NSCDC Commandant Targets Oil Theft and Vandalism

By Atlantic Reports
Eric Egbuna has assumed duty as Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Imo State, pledging to strengthen operations against oil theft and vandalism.
Speaking with journalists at his office in Owerri on Tuesday, Egbuna said he took office on Monday.
He identified the protection of critical national assets as a priority and warned against activities that threaten infrastructure and public peace.
“I want to warn vandals and other criminal elements to desist from their nefarious activities and refrain from actions capable of threatening the public peace because the law will not spare them, when caught,” he said.
Community Intelligence and Personnel Discipline
Egbuna said he would deepen cooperation between the corps and other security agencies while expanding community engagement to improve intelligence gathering.
He appealed to residents to support the command by reporting suspicious activities.
“If you see something, say something,” he said.
The new commandant also urged personnel to be proactive and promised measures to strengthen discipline within the command.
His statements set out priorities for his tenure. The account did not announce specific operational changes, implementation timelines or arrangements through which residents could safely provide information.
Egbuna thanked NSCDC Commandant-General Ahmed Audi for the appointment and acknowledged Governor Hope Uzodinma’s support for the command.
For residents and businesses, the practical test of the new leadership will be whether those commitments translate into better infrastructure protection, timely responses to credible reports and accountable conduct by personnel.
