Tinubu Youth Forum Urges Fair Distribution of Development Opportunities

By Atlantic Reports
The Tinubu Young Generation Forum (TYGF) has urged the Federal Government to ensure that development opportunities reach communities across Nigeria, saying the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda should be measured by improvements in citizens’ lives.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the forum’s National President, Mr Kevin Timothy, commended Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, while calling for balanced development and greater opportunities for young people.
Timothy said Nigeria’s human and natural resources should be harnessed to expand employment, strengthen businesses and support prosperity across all regions.
“Ultimately, the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda must be reflected in the everyday experiences of ordinary Nigerians,” he said.
Welfare as the Test of Reform
The forum praised the administration’s economic reforms and its efforts in infrastructure, food security, agricultural productivity and economic diversification.
However, Timothy said those efforts needed to produce tangible improvements in household welfare, employment opportunities, business productivity and living standards.
“As advocates of progressive leadership, we encourage the government to sustain its commitment to ensuring that the benefits of these reforms translate into tangible improvements in household welfare, employment opportunities, business productivity, and the general standard of living,” he said.
The statement did not provide figures on employment, household incomes or business performance to support its assessment of the reforms.
Its central demand was that government performance should be judged by outcomes for citizens, rather than policy announcements or the number of projects commissioned.
Development Across Regions
Timothy said every region possessed economic strengths, natural resources and human potential capable of contributing to national prosperity.
He urged federal, state and local governments to strengthen collaboration and ensure that development programmes delivered measurable benefits to communities.
The forum identified agriculture, transportation, energy, education, healthcare, housing, digital connectivity and industry as priority areas for investment.
For young people, Timothy emphasised the need for opportunities that translate national resources and government initiatives into employment and economic empowerment.
Coordination and Delivery
The forum also acknowledged Akume’s role in coordinating government policies and promoting collaboration among institutions responsible for implementing the administration’s priorities.
Timothy said development should ultimately be assessed through jobs created, businesses strengthened, lives improved and communities empowered.
The statement did not propose a specific monitoring framework or timetable for assessing those outcomes. Its call places equitable access and measurable improvements in living conditions at the centre of its expectations of government.
