Nollywood filmmaker and actress Toyin Abraham has announced December 16 as the nationwide cinema release date for her upcoming contemporary family comedy drama, Bestie.

Abraham, who produced and directed the film, disclosed the date and advance ticket sales information in a promotional post on her official Instagram page.

The post featured characters Ngozi and Peter, hinting at a close relationship between the two central figures.

“Ngozi and Peter, their bond and love run deep! Let’s wait and see what these two are up to in BESTIE!

“BESTIE in cinemas from 16th December! Pre-sales start 1st November!” the post read.

Star-Studded Nollywood Cast

Abraham also features in the production alongside veteran actors Pete Edochie and Sola Sobowale.

Edochie plays Papa Ngozi, while Sobowale portrays Mama Ngozi. Maurice Sam features as Peter, and Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, plays Suzy Baby.

Other cast members include musician and rapper Reminisce, who plays Kazeem, and Yakubu Mohammed, who portrays Hassan.

Although the promotional material offers a glimpse into the relationship between Ngozi and Peter, the filmmaker has yet to disclose the film's full storyline or broader themes.

December Cinema Season

Bestie joins a growing list of Nollywood productions targeting cinema audiences during the December holiday season, traditionally a busy period for film releases and entertainment activities.

Abraham's previous cinema release, Oversabi Aunty, reportedly crossed the ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office, according to industry reports.

The commercial performance of Bestie will be closely watched as the filmmaker returns to cinemas with another production featuring a mix of established actors and emerging talents.
